The water has already spilled (2010)

There was a Jack and there was a Jill.
They worked and strived to get up a hill.
Jack took a leap, which lead to a stumble.
Jill tried to make it; instead she tumbled.

So what's to become of sir Jack and miss Jill?
After they land at the bottom of said hill?
Does he wait three days to return her call?
What happens to Jill if he doesn't call at all?

Does Jill go to chill with Humpty Dumpty on his wall?
Is she supposed to go in after him when he falls?
If she does, she's easy, she'll come when anyone calls.
If she doesn't, he'll wonder why he bothered to call at all.

So, is it worth it, as a Jill, to fall for a Jack?
Knowing he may not call, or write you back.
Or is it better to keep to yourself; creating walls that you, yourself, built.
Keeping smiles, fighting back tears, is that shameful or is it just guilt?

We were meant for more than spilled water pails and broken pieces of shell scattered on the floor. But what for? Nothing helps. Everywhere you look there are broken people, aching people, hurting people. What difference could it possibly make if I were to open up and tell you how I really feel? It wouldn't make a difference now.

The water has already spilled.
