It's been awhile (2005)

I'm sitting here at my grandma's house in Kentucky thinking about my past year. Since it's winding down I've been doing a lot of reflection and I've finally come to the conclusion that I haven't done so bad for myself. In fact, I'm actually proud of myself fo the lessons I've learned and how I've grown as a person. I have started to stand up for myself which is great because I used to let people walk all over me. I have great friends that respect me even with all my quirks. My grades have improved drastically, straight A's for the 2nd semesters in a row! God has blessed me so much. He blessed me with the courage to stand up for what I believe in and do what was right even if it was difficult. He blessed me with endurance so I could make it through these past few months alright. I had all but given up on ever finding the right person for me, I didn't want to date anyone until I knew it was right because I didn't want to be hurt. This past month, love.. oh my goodness, I could make a blog out of this alone, but I'll try to keep it short. God blessed me with an angel. I was on a school trip to Chicago with my fellow editors in the newspaper and I had had the worst two days. I thought there was no light at the end of my tunnel, so in my moment of desperation I hit my knees and prayed that God would give me something to help ease the stress and pain. On the 6 hour train ride to Chicago I met the man I'm going to marry, (Sh)Andy Allen Gilmore. He was moving to Carbondale that weekend and so I was able to tell him where to go there. He was moving from Chicago so he was able to tell us where to eat at and the sights to see while we were there. I gave him my number and I wasn't sure when I left if I would ever hear from him or not. A few text messages and a call later we met when I returned home. Now, about a month and a half later, we're dating and totally in love. He goes with me to church every Sunday, we bring his grandma and I love his family and his room mate to death. They've opened up to me like family and it's the best situation I've ever been involved in.
